The Journey We Are On
The Journey We Are On
Inner peace is another word for well-being: the state of being comfortable, healthy, peaceful and happy. Inner peace is acomplished through the practice of the values and principals of honor, innocents, trustworthiness, compassion, patients, thoughtfulness, forgiveness, wisdom or common sense, love and kindness. They each must be put into practice because they contain the truth critical to inner peace i.e. well-being. When gathered together they create the spirit and soul and consequently become inner peace.
When you have these values and principals- accomplished in a struggle with the selfish possessive ego-which are bestowed on you by your association and service to the outer community, then you will have inner peace. It will not be given to you as a gift. It is given to you as a reward. It will have to be accomplished by your efforts and generosity. In religion it is the "grace" of God and "love thy neighbor as thy self" is the first requirement in the search for inner peace.
And take into consideration what a woman, who found inner peace, said "That when I move to another state I had made the mistake of thinking "When you are gone, you are free." And I have found this advice "Have a quick mind but a slow tongue," from the Bible, to be very valuable in the quest for inner peace.
Mahatma Gandhi's "inner peace," was accomplished because he had fulfilled his service to the community and God. What better way can a man-woman live their lives. "Oh God" were his last words as he fell from a fatal gunshot. Mahatma Gandhi's death was not the end of his life it was the beginning.
When Pope John Paul 11 went to prison to forgive the Turkish gunman who tried to murder him. The man was so impress by this visit of forgiveness, the news pictures showed, that he approached the Pope with respect and love. Such was the spiritual power of a man of "inner peace.
The search for inner peace is told magnificently in the song The Impossible Dream from the musical Man From La Mancha.
The Impossible dream
.
To dream the impossible dream,
To fight the unbeatable foe,
To bear with unbearable sorrow,
To run where the brave dare not go.
To right the unrightable wrong,
To love pure and chaste from afar,
To try when your arms are too weary,
To reach the unreachable star.
This is my quest,
To follow that star --
No matter how hopeless,
No matter how far.
To fight for the right
Without question or pause,
To be willing to march
Into hell for a heavenly cause.
And I know if I'll only be true
To this glorious quest
That my heart will be peaceful and calm
when I'm laid to my rest.
And the world will be better for this,
that one man scorned and covered with scars
still strove with his last ounce of courage.
To reach the unreachable star.
To dream the impossible dream
To fight the unbeatable foe
To bear with unbearable sorrow
To run where the brave dare not go.
To right the unrightable wrong
To be better far than you are
To try when your arms are too weary
To reach the unreachable star.
This is my quest, to follow that star,
No matter how hopeless, no matter how far
To be willing to give when there's no more to give
To be willing to die so that honor and justice may live
And I know if I'll only be true to this glorious quest
That my heart will lie peaceful and calm when I'm laid to my rest
And the world will be better for this
That one man scorned and covered with scars
Still strove with his last ounce of courage
To reach the unreachable star.
Then again simple people of the community forgive the person who murdered some one they loved. Forgiveness in itself is not access by religion only it is used by secular people to liberate the spirit and to achieve inner peace.
I believe I have never had complete inner peace. But in the course of my pursuit of inner peace I have found a certain amount of grace, elegance thoughts and the truth. And had been blessed by a miracle which told me that God approved of my earthly conduct. I have no way to prove this except by my service to God and community. i have receive more than I have given. I write this kind advise because I have been through the same struggle-it is never completed- as you.
And don't forget...remember.
DON'T FORGET
Don't forget about freedom.
Don't forget about an earnest wish.
Don't forget about wild flowers
and above all, don't forget about peace,
about children's laughter,
about justice finally established,
about a lover's kiss,
about music, about dance,
about poetry and
about infinite flight.
Don't forget about a smile,
about the silence
of a beautiful picture,
about the crystal of a cascade
and the rumor of an angel's wings.
Don't forget about dreams
and especially, don't forget about hope.
TERESINKA PEREIRA
And don't forget...remember
the song Sing from Sesame Street who In a direct gentle manner tells young and old to sing and be happy.
Sing sing a song
Sing out loud
Sing out strong
Sing of good things not bad
Sing of happy not sad
Make it simple to last your whole life long
Don’t worry that its not good enough for any
one but you
Just sing, sing a song.
The songs and poem are not just a songs and poem they are instructions and must be remembered to be put into use in your search for inner peace. One first step towards towards inner peace is to read and put into practice the Earth Charter: the most important document of our times and the Sustainable Retreat by theologian Leonardo Boff member of the Earthcharter Commission. And the Progessive Utilization Theory (PROUT), the Ideology of and features on holistic, value-oriented socio-economics promoting economic democracy, cultural renaissance, and integrated view on human character and a theory that will replace Capitalism. www.proutworld.org. These philosophies serve the world community and therefore are a necessity in the development of inner peace. They are on the internet.
